Fr. Herman passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 64 at Santa Elisabeth Hospital in Semarang. He was a member of the Apostolic Community of Santo Stanislaus Kostka in Girisonta and was known for his pastoral work and community empowerment, as well as his concern for the environment. Born on May 21, 1961, in Semarang, he was baptized on October 6, 1961. He completed his basic and secondary education in Semarang before continuing his studies at the Santo Petrus Canisius Seminary from 1977 to 1981.

Fr. Herman joined the Society of Jesus and started his novitiate on July 7, 1981, taking his first vows on July 8, 1983. He furthered his studies in philosophy at Driyarkara School of Philosophy in Jakarta from 1983 to 1986. After that, he completed regency at Mertoyudan Seminary (1986-1989) and later studied theology at the Wedabhakti Pontifical Faculty of Theology at Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta from 1989 to 1994.

He received his diaconal ordination on June 16, 1994, and became a priest a month later on July 29, 1994. After his ordination, he worked at various ministries, including as Minister and Treasurer at Santa Maria Fatima Seminary in Dili (1994-1996) and as Parish Priest of Girisonta (1998-2000). Fr. Herman also served as Associate Parish Priest in Ambarawa (2000-2006). He made his final vow as a Spiritual Coadjutor on July 25, 2022 at the Chapel of Panti Semedi Retreat House in Klaten-Central Java.

He was known for his humility, generosity, hard work, and friendliness. His body was placed in the Chapel of Santo Ignatius (chapel of Domus Patrum) in Girisonta. The requiem Mass was held on May 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the cemetery of Maria Ratu Damai, Girisonta. All members of the Province are asked to celebrate a special Eucharist for the peace of Fr. Herman’s soul.
