OM JAMARI – Young People in Action: Teach, Play, and Share

Date

The title of this article above is the initiation of activities by Gedangan Muda, namely a visit to the St. Thomas Bergas Orphanage on Sunday, December 15, 2024. This visit is a manifestation of gratitude from Gedangan Muda for the activities carried out previously, which also serves as a moment of collective reflection to appreciate every small thing received and to foster the spirit of sharing.

During this visit, we not only brought assistance in the form of material donations but also provided valuable experiences through meaningful activities. One of the main agendas is to invite the children from the orphanage to decorate plant pots. This activity teaches the children to appreciate God’s creations, such as plants and fosters a love for the environment. With pots decorated in colorful and creative ways, the atmosphere becomes more vibrant, boosting their enthusiasm for caring for the plants.

This activity brings the children happiness and reminds us to continue appreciating the simple things. Sharing is not just about material things but also about time, attention, and love.

Our enthusiasm for this visit also received tremendous support from various parties. Many devotees were moved to donate essentials, money, and reading books. They need reading books because reading is also one of their hobbies! The assistance is expected to help meet the needs of the children at St. Thomas Orphanage. In the bond that has been formed, it is genuinely felt how the love of Christ can be present through every smile and laughter shared.

This visit reminds us of our slogan, “Gedangan Muda, Aku Muda Aku Bisa!” We hope that the spirit and youthful soul are always within us wherever we are. Gratitude and joy can be manifested through small yet meaningful actions. May we always be able to do things that impact ourselves and our surroundings!
