Music and Gala Dinner to Strengthen Solidarity for WUJA 2026 in Yogyakarta.

Semarang — The WUJA Fundraising & Networking Event for Jesuit College Alumni, featuring music and a dinner, held at the Candi Ballroom of Padma Hotel, Semarang, in May 2026, served as a crucial opportunity to strengthen brotherhood, strengthen cross-generational networks, and foster collaboration in support of the 2026 World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA) Congress in Yogyakarta.

This event served as a social gathering for Jesuit College alumni from different generations and backgrounds, fostering a warm, friendly atmosphere that emphasized their connection to the Indonesian Jesuit educational family. The spirit of the event highlighted important Jesuit values like brotherhood, service, and a commitment to helping others.

Alumni were encouraged to remember their school days and reassess their roles in positively impacting society. The gathering was made more meaningful by the presence of key figures, including Frs. Benedictus Hari Juliawan, S. J., the Indonesian Provincial; Albertus Bagus Laksana, S.J., the newly elected Provincial; Melkyor Pando, S.J., the Socius to the Provincial; and Septian Marhenanto, S.J., Province Communicator, who offered spiritual support and guidance. Their presence aimed to strengthen the alumni network and promote inclusivity and impact within the community.

One of the main agenda items was a presentation on the progress of preparations for the 11th WUJA Congress 2026, to be held in Yogyakarta in July 2026. This international congress will be a major gathering of Jesuit alumni from various countries and a crucial opportunity for Indonesia to showcase the spirit, cultural richness, shared values, and contributions of its Jesuit alumni to the global community.

Participants gained insight into the vision, readiness, and various opportunities for alumni involvement in supporting the success of WUJA 2026. The high level of enthusiasm was evident in the alumni’s active participation in discussion sessions and networking sessions, as well as their commitment to providing concrete support for the congress.

The event included a fundraising effort and an auction of paintings and artworks, showing solidarity and mutual cooperation among Jesuit alumni. The auction highlighted how cultural values and creativity can coexist within this community. Alumni celebrated beauty and creativity while supporting a shared mission. Beyond fundraising, the event showcased the strong community spirit among alumni of Jesuit institutions in Indonesia. Each act of support aimed to present Indonesia as a welcoming and service-oriented host for future gatherings. The event also sparked optimism for the 11th WUJA Congress 2026, seen as a vital opportunity for alumni to demonstrate brotherhood, leadership, and service grounded in Ignatian values.

“The spirit of brotherhood, service, and collaboration that characterizes Jesuit education was once again felt in this event. The extraordinary support from alumni provided a boost towards WUJA 2026,” stated the organizing committee.
